Your Electronic Battle Buddy:

A mobile journal writing application that helps to fight anxiety, depression, and possibly suicide caused by PTSD. Currently, twenty two of our warfighters commit suicide a day. When our warfighters or veterans are diagnosed with PTSD by the VA, it may take them a while to get into the system and see a doctor. This delay can heighten their anxiety levels, deepen their depression, and possibly cause them to commit suicide.

Scientific evidence supports that journaling provides many benefits. The act of writing accesses your left-brain, which is your analytical and rational side of your brain. While your left brain is occupied, your right brain is free to create, sense and feel your surroundings. Writing helps to remove mental blocks and allows you to use all of your brainpower to better understand yourself, and others, letting you live in the moment and not the past.

Individuals that write in a journal experienced these benefits:

  • Clarify your thoughts and feelings. Do you ever seem all jumbled up inside, unsure of what you want or feel? Taking a few minutes to jot down your thoughts and emotions, (no editing!) will quickly get you in touch with your internal world.
  • Know yourself better. By writing routinely, you will get to know what makes you feel happy and confident. You will also become clear about situations and people who are toxic for you
